I am now on day 14 in the 21 day declutter challenge. To get your own printable checklist, go here. To view the challenges from previous days, go here.  As you may have noticed, the Declutter Challenge hasn’t been posted for a few days. This was because I got hit with a cold and then a serious lack of motivation. I think taking a little break was needed, since I am more than halfway through the challenge, but I decided today was the day to get it back into gear. For today’s challenge I decided to clean up the backyard.

I always pictured myself as having a perfect yard someday. Well, that day is not today. Maybe when I’m older. I’m going to keep dreaming on this one for awhile. Does your yard ever look like this? Toys, leaves and confusion all over the yard? Even the dog was confused. You can’t see most of it from this picture, but I really didn’t even know where to start. Our backyard is a monster.

I decided to go for as much of the leaves as I could muster without killing my back. After a few minutes of raking, my back began to complain and then I remembered that I had this WORX TriVac All-in-One Electric Blower/Mulcher/Vacuumthat I could use instead. I am not especially adept in using this gadget, so I started with blowing. Then the wind picked up. I was blowing the leaves one way and the wind was blowing them back at me. It was almost funny. I changed over to the Vacuum/Mulcher function and this was much better. It was literally eating the leaves.

I wish I had thought to take a before picture of this patio. It was covered in leaves. It’s much better now.

I got most of the toys stationed in one dry area now, so that’s a good start, but there are still soooo many leaves.  It’s definitely a work in progress and I couldn’t get it all done today. I got most of the big stuff done that was bothering me and will get the rest of it when the weather starts to get nicer.

On a side note, I wanted to ask you all a question. Do you know what kind of flower this is?  I noticed a whole bunch of these little flowers growing in the grass. They seem to pop up every Feb-Mar. Some are yellow and some are purple. Any guesses?

  1. I think the flower is a White Crocus. Crocuses are some of the first flowers to bloom in the spring. I grew up in Indiana, and I’ve seen the head of a Crocus pop through snow in the springtime.
