If you have a big family, you know that taking a family vacation can get to be way too spendy. If you have more than 4 people in your family, like we do, you can’t even rent one hotel room for the night. Most hotels will ask you to get two rooms. While I do believe camping is fun, I don’t want it to be my only option when it comes to getting out of town for awhile. For those of you who can feel my pain, I think I have found a pretty nice solution. Timeshare rentals.
Many people are unaware of the advantages of renting a timeshare for a budget-friendly family vacation. Timeshare rentals typically cost up to 50% less than hotel rooms, especially when rented directly from the owner.
The way it works is simple; when owners are unable to use their timeshare weeks, renting out the timeshare becomes a win/win for both the owner and families who are looking for vacation accommodations that are a bargain. And with a timeshare rental you can even afford to stay at luxury resorts.
If you’ve ever stayed in a timeshare you know that it is like a real home-away-from-home. You have separate bedrooms, a dining area, a living room, a patio or balcony, and a kitchen. And best of all – maid service will clean it, keep it supplied with fresh towels and linens, and even carry out the garbage.
Aside from the maid service, the next best thing about the timeshare is that you get to have your own kitchen, so that you won’t have an excuse to overspend on dining out. The maids will also clean up your mess in the kitchen too, so you can enjoy your time away from home. Yippee!
But wait, there’s more. Most timeshare resorts will have swimming pools, hot tubs, kiddie pools, playgrounds, etc. Perhaps a tennis court, or an arcade game room. Some resorts will even have BBQ get togethers or ice cream socials.
So this sounds all fine and dandy, you say, “but how much does it cost”, right? I hear you. If you’re looking, you can find timeshare rentals for much less than a hotel stay. The catch, you have to stay for an entire week. I was poking around on the RedWeek site looking for deals, and I tell you, there are some great ones!
Take this for example, in Orlando, FL you can find rooms from $36 per night for a family of 5! And that’s just the start of good prices in Fl.
There are a few rooms for $64 per night. That’s not bad considering all the amenities and you can fit 8 people in there comfortably without having to worry about renting a second room.
Other awesome prices are listed on the home page of RedWeek. See the pic above to get an idea.

I learned you can rent or buy a time share directly from an owner… I thought it was always a company!
