Finding Dory Hits Theaters June 17 & Movie Review #‎FindingDory

Dory

One of my all time favorite Disney movies is Finding Nemo. It is one that my family owns and has watched over and over. I was so excited to hear that Disney•Pixar was releasing Finding Dory, which is scheduled to hit theaters later this week on June 17. I was even more excited to be able to get a sneak peek at an advanced screening.

Finding Dory welcomes back to the big screen everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres), who’s living happily in the reef with Nemo (voice of Hayden Rolence) and Marlin (voice of Albert Brooks). Dory, as you may recall from Finding Nemo, suffers from short term memory loss, but in the movie, she suddenly remembers that she has a family out there who may be looking for her, the trio takes off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute, a rehabilitation center and aquarium. In an effort to find her mom (voice of Diane Keaton) and dad (voice of Eugene Levy), Dory enlists the help of three new friends from the aquarium. Hank (voice of Ed O’Neill), a cantankerous octopus who frequently gives employees the slip; Bailey (voice of Ty Burrell), a beluga whale who is convinced his echolocation skills are on the fritz; and Destiny (voice of Kaitlin Olson), a nearsighted whale shark. Deftly navigating the complex innerworkings of the MLI, Dory and her friends discover the magic within their flaws, friendships and family.

My kids and I really loved this movie. While technically, this is a sequel, it was kind of its own story, so I really didn’t feel like I was a watching a sequel. The graphics were amazing. I highly recommend seeing this in the theater in 3D. The story has that same happy-go-lucky feeling to it, that I felt while watching Finding Nemo. We laughed a lot! There was also a mix of action and solemn moments as well, which help pull you in to the story.

The movie is preceded by the short film, Piper, which is an amazingly done cartoon about a little bird; Piper. Not only is it adorable, but we really felt like we were on the beach while watching in 3D.

You can catch Finding Dory in theaters on June 17. For more information, like them on Facebook, and follow on Twitter,  and Instagram.
